(27-11-23) MOGADISHU – The first meeting of the 4th session of Somalia’s House of the People, chaired by Speaker H.E Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), was held on Monday, with the devastating effects of recent torrential rains across various regions of the country taking centre stage.
With 143 members present, the parliament focused on the extensive flood damage, emphasizing the need for swift action. The assembly highlighted the urgent requirement for aid from charitable organisations to assist those affected by the floods.
During the session, lawmakers proposed prioritising rescue operations and ensuring the provision of essential resources to those impacted. The Speaker confirmed that further discussions and decision-making on these proposals would resume on Wednesday.
