(04-12-23) MOGADISHU (HN) — For the second consecutive day, the Somali National Army and the local Macawisley forces, are conducting a comprehensive clean-up operation in Hiraan region. This follows the recent clash with Al-Shabaab militants.
In the aftermath of Sunday’s conflict, the bodies of Al-Shabaab fighters were reportedly left uncollected on the roads in the bombarded areas. The Somali National Army and its allies are actively pursuing the remaining members of the group.
This joint operation, which also involved international military support, was centred around Hilow Bacaad, 8 kilometres from Halgan in Hiraan region. Ministry of Defence reported that over 60 Al-Shabaab militants were neutralised in this operation.
Ali Jeyte Osman, the Chief Liaison for the Civilian Defense Forces in the Office of the President, together with officers from the national forces, visited the sites of these recent victories. They commended the bravery and effectiveness of the Somali forces in combating Al-Shabaab, underlining the significance of these operations in maintaining national security and stability.
