(08-12-23) MOGADISHU (HN) — Somali forces and local Macawisley forces, on Friday, foiled a bomb plot by Al-Shabaab militants on the roadway connecting Beledweyne city and Buloburte. The intervention, which averted potential loss of life, also led to the capture of an Al-Shabaab explosives expert assigned to plant the explosive device.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat Al-Shabaab’s influence in the mountainous region between Beledweyne and Buloburte. The government’s statement highlighted these efforts as a continuation of the broader strategy to counter the militant group’s activities in the area.
