(20-12-23) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Somali government on Wednesday identified a senior Al-Shabaab militant who was killed in a US military airstrike in the Middle Juba region on 17 December. The US military command in Africa, known as AFRICOM, has confirmed the accuracy of the report of the recent airstrike in the Middle Juba region.
Chief Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA), General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhidin Adow, said the airstrike was conducted in Jilib and resulted in the death of Khalif Da’ud, also known as Moallin Ayman, a key figure within Al-Shabaab.
The SNA Chief clarified that the targeted commander was responsible for mobilising and coordinating military operations, including attacks that extended into Kenya. Before his killing in the air raid, Ayman reportedly had a bounty of 5 million dollars on his head.
