(25-12-23) HARGEISA (Halqabsi News) — Somaliland’s President Muse Bihi Abdi on Monday gathered prominent businessmen to tackle the economic fallout from the escalating security issues in the Red Sea. This gathering directly responds to the need for a united front in these challenging times.
Highlighting the role of the private sector, the President underscored the value of joint efforts with the government. He stated, “Today, the only men listened to is the men with wealth. We have called you to give us your attention on the issue you are most concerned about and understand best.”
The meeting saw the participation of influential business leaders in Somaliland including Yusuf Duale Barre, Ali Omar Guled, Mohamed Abdullahi Mire, Mohamed Ali Hassan, Ismail Abdi Hassan, Mohamed Shugri Jama, and Abdiwahab Abdirahman Cileye. These figures shared their perspectives and proposed solutions to mitigate the economic challenges of the heightened security situation.
Dr. Saad Ali Shire, the Minister of Finance Development, emphasised the importance of a collaborative strategy between the government and the business community to address the effects of the ongoing situation in the Red Sea region.
The discussions focused on the necessity for cooperation and taking proactive measures to defend economic interests amid the increasing security concerns affecting the Red Sea amid Houthi attacks.
