(14-01-24) BOSASO (Halqabsi News) — The city of Bosaso in Puntland state was rocked by two grenade attacks on Sunday evening. In one of the incidents, a soldier sustained injuries when the residence of Puntland’s Security Minister, Ibrahim Cartan Ismail (Haji Bikiin), was struck.
Earlier the same evening, the Biyo-Kulule police station in Bosaso was the target of a similar attack, resulting in injuries to two police officers, as reported by eyewitnesses. These back-to-back attacks have triggered significant alarm regarding the security in the region.
Authorities in the area are conducting thorough investigations to track down those responsible for these attacks. In response to these events, security measures have been escalated in Bosaso, with heightened patrols and additional checkpoints being established around the city.
The Puntland government has yet to release an official statement. However, sources within the administration have conveyed deep concerns about the repercussions of these attacks on the stability of Bosaso.
