(10-02-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Somali National Army targeted an Al-Shabaab stronghold in the Lower Jubba region, west of Kismayo, resulting in the death of 27 militants early on Saturday. The operation, conducted by the elite Danab Commando’s 5th unit under Lieutenant Arab, also injured 36 insurgents in Yaaqdabayl village.
This action is part of a wider effort to dismantle terrorist hideouts, signalling the Army’s ongoing commitment to eradicating Al-Shabaab’s presence in Somalia. The success of this operation comes as the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) prepares to transition security responsibilities to Somali forces, marking a milestone towards Somalia’s self-reliance in maintaining peace and stability.
