(13-03-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Daud Aweys Jama, and the African Union Representative, Amb Souef Mohamed El-Amine, held a joint press conference at the Ministry of Information headquarters today. They discussed the government’s recent victories in fighting Al-Shabaab, bolstering the capital’s security, advancing education, and enhancing diplomatic efforts.
Minister Daud elaborated on the strategy to counter Al-Shabaab, highlighting the notable victories following the expulsion of the terrorist group from their hiding places in the Lower Shabelle region. This included the Jilib-marka area and its vicinity, where government forces eliminated a number of terrorists, including several senior leaders.
Further, he underscored the continuation of operations in the Lower Juba region aimed at the eradication of the Al-Qaeda-allied group, with over 50 militants killed and other detainees captured.
