(17-03-24) GALKAYO (Halqabsi News) – Security operations in Galkayo, the capital of the Mudug region, intensified for the sixth consecutive night, officials said Sunday. The joint initiative, involving police, security, and stabilisation forces in the southern part of Galmudug, aims to restore peace and order amid the holy month of Ramadan.
Galkayo District Police Commander in Galmudug, Sergeant Ali Hirsi Sahal, emphasized that these operations are tailored to ensure that residents can observe Ramadan with serenity. “Our concerted efforts are aimed at facilitating a peaceful environment for people in Galkayo to break their fast,” Sahal expressed, underscoring the critical need for security during the sacred period.
The success of the operations, according to Sahal, is largely due to the cooperation between the army and the locals. “This collaborative effort will continue,” he assured, highlighting the partnership’s critical role in the campaign’s effectiveness.
The security measures also target juvenile delinquency and other social disturbances, with Sahal appealing to parents to control their children’s activities. “We are asking parents to keep their children at home and warn them about the societal disturbances they are causing,” he said, addressing the broader impact of the operations.
