(07 April 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Local Ma’awisley forces carried out a nighttime assault on an Al-Shabaab base in Hiiraan region. The operation targeted Ji’ibow Galbeed area near Buloburte district, marking a strategic shift as the forces crossed the Shabelle River to initiate the attack. According to reports, the ensuing confrontation with Al-Shabaab militants lasted several hours.
A Ma’awisley commander, speaking to state media, confirmed the base’s destruction and reported the deaths of 11 Al-Shabaab militants during the clash. He also acknowledged aerial support from international partners targeting the Helobannaan area to counter Al-Shabaab reinforcements.
The operation was noted for its tactical innovation, as it involved the forces adopting a strategy formerly utilised by the militant group. It demonstrates the Ma’awisley forces’ boldness and their dedication to continuing the fight against Al-Shabaab.
