(09 April 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was on Tuesday present for the formal handover of the National Intelligence and Security Agency’s (NISA) leadership. The transition saw the outgoing Director Mahad Salad passing the reins to Abdullahi Mohamed Ali ‘Sanbalolshe’.
During the ceremony, President Mohamud extended his gratitude to the former NISA Director for his contributions toward enhancing the agency’s functions. The president also expressed his expectations for the new director to perform his responsibilities with dedication.
Highlighting the crucial nature of NISA’s role in combating terrorism, President Mohamud called for unity against the threat posed by Al-Shabaab. He underscored the importance of trust-building and collaborative efforts with the Somali people in this context.
Furthermore, the president pointed out NISA’s key impact on the war against Al-Shabaab, including its success in reclaiming many areas from the militant group’s control.
Accompanying the leadership change, President Mohamud inaugurated new offices equipped with modern technology, aimed at strengthening the agency’s intelligence-gathering capabilities.
