Nine Al-Shabaab militants were killed in operations conducted by Somali government forces and international partners in Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud, according to a press release from the Federal Ministry of Information. The operations took place in Ali Helle and Baraag Sheikh Amir, resulting in the deaths of four militants in Ali Helle and five in Baraag Sheikh Amir.
The press release detailed that the first operation targeted a military vehicle and a water truck used by the Al-Shabaab militants, killing four. The second operation destroyed an enemy base in Baraag Sheikh Amir, leading to five additional militant casualties.
The planned operations also destroyed vehicles and military equipment. The statement concluded by saying that these efforts are part of the ongoing campaign by Somali government forces, local forces, and international partners to undermine Al-Shabaab’s capability.
