(26-06-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre met with the newly appointed US Ambassador to Somalia, Richard H. Riley, to discuss bilateral relations and areas of mutual interest. The meeting focused on Somalia’s recent achievements in politics, security, economy, asocial affairs, and future collaborations.
Prime Minister Barre highlighted the Somali government’s National Transformation Plan, which aims to strengthen governance, develop the economy, and improve social conditions. He also emphasized the crucial role of Somali businessmen and investors in the country’s development.
The Prime Minister reiterated Somalia’s stance on the disputed agreement with Ethiopia, stating that Somalia will not concede any of its territory and is committed to regional cooperation based on mutual respect and benefit.
Ambassador Riley commended the Somali government’s progress and reaffirmed the US government’s commitment to supporting Somalia in security, aid, and infrastructure development. He also expressed the interest of US companies in investing in Somalia.
Ambassador Riley last week presented his credentials and engaged yesterday with Somali leaders, including the Speaker of Parliament and the Minister of Defense, to foster stronger ties between the two countries.
