(13-07-24) GAROWE (Halqabsi News) – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni welcomed Acting UN Special Representative James Swan to Garowe, solidifying their commitment to address pressing issues in the region. High on the agenda were discussions surrounding the ongoing constitutional review, state-building efforts, and the urgent need for both humanitarian and development assistance. Representatives from key UN agencies, including OCHA, FAO, and IOM Somalia, also participated in the discussions.
President Deni and Mr. Swan underscored the importance of collaboration between Puntland and the UN. Mr Swan emphasized the UN’s support for Puntland’s development initiatives, which align with both national and global development goals, demonstrating a unified front in working towards a prosperous future for the region.
This visit marks another milestone in Mr. Swan’s ongoing outreach to Somali leaders. His meetings with leaders across various Federal Member States reflect the UN’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and fostering collaborative solutions to the challenges faced by Somalia.
With this visit to Puntland, Mr Swan has now engaged with leaders in Jubaland, Galmudug, South West, and Puntland. His upcoming visit to Hirshabelle State will complete his tour of all Federal Member States, solidifying the UN’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with regional authorities across Somalia.
