(28 July 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Deputy Prime Minister, Salah Jama, chaired a high-level National Stabilisation Coordination Meeting in Mogadishu on Sunday. The meeting aimed to review progress and coordinate efforts to stabilise areas liberated from the terrorist group.
Reflecting on the progress made, Deputy Prime Minister Jama said, “I am proud to see children in towns like Moqokori, Harardhere, and Aadan Yabaal, among many other liberated communities, attending schools for the first time in a generation, women starting new small businesses, and members of the diaspora returning to invest, creating a thriving ecosystem.”
Hosted by the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, the meeting brought together federal and state leaders, representatives from the United Nations, international partners, and diplomatic missions. The presence of Commissioner Mahamuud Moallim from the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) highlighted the government’s comprehensive approach to stabilisation, incorporating humanitarian aid, disaster mitigation, and reconstruction efforts alongside security initiatives.
Deputy Prime Minister Jama acknowledged the sacrifices made by security forces and emphasised the need for clear structures and coordination to ensure the program’s success. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to accelerating service delivery in liberated areas and stabilising newly liberated territories as military operations continue.
The meeting serves as a vital platform for the government to assess its stabilisation strategy, learn from past experiences, and optimise resource allocation and service provision in recovered areas. As the military campaign progresses, the government remains focused on reaching more communities and ensuring long-term stability and development for the nation.
