(06 Aug 2024) KISMAYO (Halqabsi News) – Jubaland Security Minister Major General Yusuf Hussein Osman Dhumaal commented on the recent successes against Al-Shabaab in Lower Juba operations. General Dhumaal said the operations by the SNA and Jubaland military were well-planned, leveraging intelligence, enemy inexperience, and the unpreparedness of abducted children forced into combat.
Addressing government media, General Dhumaal highlighted the disturbing use of coerced children, recruited as militant fighters from across the country for desperate attacks. Dhumaal assured that captured juvenile Al-Shabaab prisoners of war were well-treated and would undergo rehabilitation to reform them. He noted that many such child soldiers in Al-Shabaab ranks were reintegrated into society through amnesty or other means after coming into the forces’ custody.
Meanwhile, he vowed that the anti-Al-Shabaab operations will continue until the group’s presence in the Jubaland regions is eradicated.
