(16 Sep 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Police in Banadir have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old girl in Mogadishu. Authorities confirmed in a statement that Abdiaziz Osman Mohamed, also known as “Saddam,” has been detained for the killing of Ma’idah Mohamed Ahmed.
The police stated that the suspect and the victim had been in a relationship, and their investigation determined that strangulation was the cause of death. A photo of the accused has been released, and he remains under investigation before facing trial.
Despite ongoing efforts to curb it, domestic violence and violence against women continue to be widespread issues in Somalia.
