(07 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Galmudug leader Ahmed Abdi Kariye, known as ‘Qoorqoor,’ and senior government officials, including ministers and MPs, attended the signing ceremony for the Hobyo Port construction project held in Mogadishu on Monday.
In his remarks, President Kariye emphasised that the Hobyo Port construction has been a long-standing aspiration for the people of Galmudug, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to advancing essential economic infrastructure. President Qoorqoor pledged to support the construction firm and the project’s implementing committee to implement the project smoothly.
Located on Somalia’s central coast, Hobyo is a historic port town with a strategic position along major Red Sea and Indian Ocean trade routes. The construction of Hobyo Port is expected to boost economic growth, create jobs, and improve trade access for the country, particularly benefiting communities in the central regions.
