(15 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somali Police Deputy Chief, Brigadier General Osman Abdullahi Mohamed Kanif, accompanied by the Security Ministry Director General, Yussuf Ali Mohamed, concluded a week-long training for 64 community policing recruits and nearly 20 police officers. Held at the General Kahiye Police Academy, the programme aimed to strengthen collaboration between the police and communities in the Banadir region.
Officials praised the Head of the Community and Police Relations Division, Major Qali Ahmed Adan, for her efforts in building relationships and trust between the police and local residents. The officials also acknowledged the United Nations Development ProgrammeUNDP for supporting the initiative.
In his closing remarks, the Deputy Police Chief urged trainees to work closely with the Somali Police Force, underscoring their role in helping to identify and counter insecurity, crime and extremist elements within their communities.
