(27 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) –Two senior Al-Shabaab members, Robow Abdiyow Hassan and Nurow Tukow Manur, surrendered early this morning to the Somali National Army (SNA), specifically to the 47th Division of the 8th Battalion within the 60th Division. The surrender took place approximately 18 kilometres from Goof Gaduud Burey, in Somalia’s Bay region.
The two men, formerly affiliated with Al-Shabaab, had undergone separate training programmes in Bu’alle District. Their defection is seen as a significant blow to the militant group’s efforts in the region.
Sergeant Ahmed Mohamed Nur, commander of the 47th Division, confirmed the news to the media. This latest defection highlights ongoing pressure by the Somali National Army and allied forces on Al-Shabaab elements, encouraging more fighters to abandon the group and reintegrate into society.
