(30 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Federal Government of Somalia has expressed condolences to Spain following devastating floods that have claimed the lives of over 63 people. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Somalia conveyed sympathy to the Spanish government and the bereaved families, pledging solidarity with the people of Spain during this tragic time.
The message, directed to Spanish leaders including Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, highlighted Somalia’s support for Spain’s recovery efforts and emphasised the importance of global cooperation in preparing for natural disasters. Somalia reaffirmed its commitment to international collaboration, recognising the shared bonds of humanity in times of crisis and hardship.
The flooding has been described as the deadliest to hit Spain for three decades after torrential rain battered the eastern region of Valencia on Tuesday, leaving some areas impossible to reach.
