(11 Dec 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation on Wednesday, where Minister Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye and other officials received him. The visit inspected the ministry’s progress and its role in the recently concluded National Development Forum.
Deputy Prime Minister Jama commended the ministry’s efforts, particularly its effective plans for economic growth. He urged increased agricultural production to address poverty and achieve food self-sufficiency, emphasising the sector’s critical role in the country’s development.
During the visit, he toured key departments, including the Plant Protection Unit and the laboratory, where he received updates from staff and applauded their contributions. Both officials pledged to enhance the laboratory’s capabilities to expand public services.
Minister Mareye thanked the Deputy PM for his continuous support to the ministry and farmers, stressing the importance of government collaboration with the agricultural sector to boost productivity and self-reliance.
