Jowhar, the capital city of the Middle Shabele region of Somalia, was rocked by two explosions in the early hours of this evening. Reports indicate that the explosions were caused by two hand grenades thrown at a civilian residence in the city, causing widespread alarm and fear.

The attack resulted in the tragic death of Saed Mohamed Sufi, a young man from the Horseed area of Jowhar. Sufi’s passing has deeply impacted the community and elicited a strong emotional response.

The local security forces immediately arrived at the scene and launched an investigation, however, no suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack and no group has taken responsibility. Despite ongoing efforts by the federal government to fight against Alshabaab in the region, the situation remains tense and uncertain.

The administration of Hirshabelle State and the regional government have yet to issue a statement on the matter, leaving residents on edge as they wait for further information.
