(23/07/23/ MOGADISHU – The Banaadir Appeal Court has concluded the hearing involving a group of illegal fishermen. The accused individuals, who are foreign nationals, are facing charges related to unauthorised fishing activities within the Somalia’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
Recently, The Banaadir Appeal Court heard an appeal from the defendants’ lawyer, who requested a reconsideration of the initial verdict that had sentenced the accusers. The need for this appeal process arose due to the court’s previous issuance of sentences to the defendants.
During the court session, the Government’s Attorney General presented the fishing equipment that the defendants had used to carry out the illegal fishing activities within Somalia’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
Mr. Sa’id Ali Mohamed, the chairman of the Banaadir Appeal Court, presided over the session and indicated that a decision would be issued soon.
