(17-07-23) MOGADISHU – On Monday, Mr Daud Aweys, the Minister for Information, Culture, and Tourism of Somalia, initiated a collaborative debate in Mogadishu focused on the attainment of peace in Somalia and the eradication of extremist ideologies.
In his introductory remarks, Mr Daud Aweys Jama affirmed that the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is dedicated to steering the nation to a juncture where it can capably utilise its resources and furnish a promising future for its young population. He underscored the significance of candid discussions about the three primary battles against the Alshabaab: military, economic, and ideological. The aim is to foster awareness and inform the populace about the perils affiliated with Alshabaab’s extremist ideology.
The Minister for Information has encouraged Somali individuals to take an active part in combating Alshabaab and halting their destructive activities. He stressed the importance of resisting Alshabaab’s anti-peace ideology.
The collaborative debate saw participation from officials of the Somali government, the Police, the Administration of the Banaadir region, Somali religious leaders, and a substantial number of the general public. The objective being active exchange of valuable insights and making a significant contribution to the fight against Alshabaab’s extremist ideology.
