(24/07/23) MOGADISHU – The US Embassy in Mogadishu has announced on Monday, the appointment of Mr Shane Dixon as the new Chargé d’Affaires to Somalia. The announcement made via social media, welcomed Dixon and acknowledged the completion of his predecessor, Mr Tim Trenkle’s, tour of duty.
In his capacity as Chargé d’Affaires, Mr Dixon will be the acting head of the US diplomatic mission in Somalia. His responsibilities will include managing diplomatic relations and promoting the interests of the United States, while also strengthening its partnership with the Somali people.
The appointment comes at a crucial time, as Somalia and the US continue to work together towards shared objectives of peace, prosperity, and development. The embassy expressed optimism for the future under Dixon’s stewardship, reflecting the importance of the US-Somalia relationship in achieving these shared goals.
As Mr Dixon steps into his new role, he carries on the efforts of Mr Trenkle, whose successful tour of duty played a significant part in fostering ties between the US and Somalia.
