(14/07/23) Mogadishu – The Somali Ambassador to Egypt and the Arab League, Ambassador Ilyas Sheikh Omar, recently met with Dr. Mohamed Samir Hamsa, Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education Representative on Friday. The meeting was held at the Ministry’s headquarters, and the Director of Higher Education from the Ministry of Education of Somalia, as well as the Head of Education at the Somali Embassy in Egypt, were in attendance.
During the meeting, Ambassador Ilyas Sheikh Omar expressed gratitude to the Egyptian government for providing educational scholarships to Somalia. He emphasised Egypt’s and Somalia’s fruitful educational collaboration, which has effectively resolved numerous challenges in Somalia.
The meeting’s major focus was on resolving the challenges Somali students have had while adjusting to the new educational system introduced by the Egyptian government this year.
In response, a representative from Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education promised to address Somali students’ concerns as soon as possible. They also commended the Ambassador for his deep appreciation of the importance of education.
