(02/08/23) MOGADISHU – Somali National Army (SNA) alongside international allies, carried out an operation on Tuesday in the Sigato area under the Ruunnirgood district in the Middle Shabelle region. The operation resulted in a decisive blow to Al-Shabaab, causing heavy losses and impeding an impending attack on an SNA base.
The strategic operation successfully dismantled an Al-Shabaab position. It also led to the destruction of a vehicle and military transport suspected of ferrying fighters intending to assault an SNA station in DarulNicma.
According to a report from the Ministry of Defence, the operation inflicted heavy losses on the Alshabaab militants present at the targeted location. The Somali forces continue to maintain a steadfast and vigilant stance in their commitment to peace and security.
This news comes at a time when Somalia and its international allies are intensifying efforts against Al-Shabaab, illustrating their commitment to bringing lasting peace to the Somali people.
