(24-09-23) MOGADISHU — Twenty critically injured victims of a truck bombing in Beledweyne were airlifted to Mogadishu and are currently receiving advanced medical treatment, according to Somali officials. Deputy Health Minister Dr. Mohamed Hassan emphasised the government’s commitment to the victims’ healthcare.
The explosion, which occurred on Saturday in the central Somali town of Beledweyne, resulted in 18 deaths and left 40 people wounded. Of those, 20 have been admitted to hospitals in Beledweyne, while another 20, in critical condition, were transferred to Mogadishu for specialised care.
The attack, claimed by Al-Shabaab, devastated residential and commercial areas in Beledweyne. Federal authorities have called for decisive action against the militant group following this tragedy.
