(25-09-23) DHUSAMAREB — Senior government officials including the Minister of Internal Affairs, Fisheries, Members of the Federal Parliament and Galmudug State officials on Monday visited the outskirts of Shabeellow village in south of Mudug region, to fortify morale amongst troops fighting against extremist group Al-Shabaab.
The high-level visit aimed to show unified support for the armed forces who have recently made gains against the militants in the Mudug region, and to celebrate the liberation of multiple villages that had been under extremist control.
During the visit, a meeting was held between the federal and regional government authorities and military officials focusing on the ongoing counter-terrorism strategy and the projected timeline for eradicating Al-Shabaab’s presence in the Galmudug State.
“The support from the highest echelons of the government shows the national commitment towards eliminating extremism from our soil,” commented Colonel Abdullahi Warsame a military official.
