(11-09-23) MOGADISHU — The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Government has donated vehicles to the health ministries in Jubaland and South West states. Donated originally by the World Health Organisation, these vehicles aim to strengthen the vaccination network in the country’s remote areas.
Mohamed Osman Haji, the Minister of Health for the South West Regional Government, and Hussein Macalin Ali, Director General of the Ministry of Health of Jubaland, received the vehicles in a handover ceremony in Mogadishu on Monday. Both praised the initiative as a crucial step towards enhanced healthcare.
“These vehicles are not mere pieces of machinery; they are envoys of life-saving vaccines to the far-flung areas of our country,” Haji remarked during the ceremony.
The vehicles are part of a broader collaboration between the World Health Organisation and the Federal Ministry to improve medical services across Somalia. This initiative aims to extend healthcare reach beyond urban centres, targeting villages and isolated communities where medical services have historically been limited.
