(25-09-23) MOGADISHU — District Commissioner Suleiman Mohamoud Fargah revealed details of an overnight Sunday operation aimed at Al-Shabaab members in Mogadishu’s Yaqshiid district. The operation came in the wake of a bombing incident at a local marketplace, Suuq Baad.
According to Fargah, the detained individuals failed to adhere to the area’s accommodation registration requirements, leading to their prompt arrest. “The arrested lived in a house where the occupant had not properly registered with the district,” he said.
The Commissioner issued a stern warning to landlords and tenants alike. “Anyone renting a property without proper registration is in violation of the district administration’s rules. The property in question will remain sealed until further notice,” Fargah stated.
The operation follows a series of similar initiatives across the capital, marking a tightened security protocol aimed at curbing the Al-Shabaab insurgency. “Many Al-Shabaab factions have entered Mogadishu, making it crucial to step up our security operations,” the Commissioner noted.
Fargah indicated that extensive house-to-house searches have been carried out throughout Mogadishu, contributing to a marked improvement in the city’s security situation.
