(31-10-23) MOGADISHU — Somali Security Forces, alongside the African Troops Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troops from Burundi, undertook a joint patrol operation in the Ceelow area, located 10 km south-west of the Qorilow Forward Operation Base (FOB) in HirShabelle State. The joint patrol commenced from the Qorilow FOB, a strategically located base that serves as a key point for military operations against insurgent groups in the region.
The collaborative effort was geared towards ensuring the safety and security of the local population as well as securing key supply routes, which are crucial for the delivery of aid and commerce in the area. Officials have emphasised that these joint patrols are instrumental in maintaining peace and order. By working in unison, the Somali Security Forces and ATMIS BNDF are sending a clear message of solidarity and strength against adversarial elements threatening the stability of the region.
In a tweet by ATMIS, the forces highlighted that “joint patrols are key to ensuring security for the local population and key supply routes.” The joint patrol operation came at an important time when the need for establishing a secure environment is paramount for the progress and development of HirShabelle State.
