(04/11/23) MOGADISHU — Leaders and scholars of Ahlu Sunna Waljamaa’s Southwest branch met in Mogadishu this Friday, outlining their strategy against the Al-Shabaab insurgency. The group affirmed its critical decisions for the upcoming second phase of operations aimed at combating the militants in the Southwest state.
The assembly’s resolution has positioned Ahlu Sunna Southwest as a key player in the forthcoming offensive, pledging to lead the charge for liberation within the region. According to a statement issued, the group stands united with the Somali government’s efforts against the extremist faction.
The call to arms extended to local communities and administrations, emphasising the need for a united front against Al-Shabaab. Ahlu Sunna has sought to galvanise scholars from the Southwest state to reinforce the fight against terrorism.
In anticipation of the support required for such a monumental task, Ahlu Sunna has called upon the federal government, especially the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs, to provide full backing for their campaign to liberate Southwest Somalia from the clutches of Al-Shabaab.
With the second phase of the offensive against Al-Shabaab looming, the final stages of preparation are in motion, marking a decisive moment in Somalia’s ongoing battle against extremism.
