(21-11-23) MOGADISHU — Somalia’s Minister of State for Defence, Abdinur Dahir Fidow, convened a high-priority meeting in Mogadishu to strengthen inter-agency cooperation for swift aid delivery to El Niño flood victims. The session, featuring SNA Deputy Commander Nureey Maadey Sheikh and SoDMA Commissioner Mohamud Maallim Abdulle, focused on improving rescue and support strategies for those displaced by the devastating floods.
Leaders lauded the Somali Armed Forces for their pivotal rescue efforts while concurrently securing the nation. “Focused on rapid aid for those affected by El Niño-triggered floods & aligned on rescue & support strategies,” read a Ministry of Defence statement.
Minister Fidow assured full commitment from the Ministry and the Armed Forces, emphasizing the government’s dedication to an effective disaster response and citizen welfare.
The meeting concluded on a note of solidarity, underlining the government’s readiness to tackle the natural disaster’s challenges head-on.
