(14/11/23) MOGADISHU – In a recent visit to Baidoa, the British Ambassador to Somalia, Mike Nithavrianakis, met with humanitarian partners working to manage the floods affecting the region.
During his visit, Ambassador Nithavrianakis engaged with teams on the ground, gaining firsthand insights into the challenges and the ongoing relief efforts. The discussions centred on how the United Kingdom can best contribute to the current situation and support the resilience of communities against similar future climate-related disasters.
The UK has expressed a steadfast readiness to back immediate flood response programmes, aiming to alleviate the hardships faced by the affected populations. Moreover, the British Embassy in Somalia is looking to champion efforts that bolster long-term climate resilience.
