The collapse occurred early Monday morning, shortly after residents had completed their morning prayers.
An eyewitness, recounting the ordeal to Kulmiye Radio, described the sudden collapse of the building, which was being fortified with earth filling as part of its renovation. The building’s unexpected failure has sent shockwaves through the community, underscoring the perilous state of building safety in the city, often marred by inadequate expertise and outdated technology.
