(24-11-23) BAKU – Somalia, along with five other nations, has signed a pivotal new law in Baku, Azerbaijan, aimed at tackling the pressing issues of job creation and social protection within the member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Minister of State for Labor and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Yusuf Mohamed Adan, MP, endorsed the law, inaugurating the OIC’s work centre in Baku.
The centre, set to focus on job creation and social protection, aims to confront the pressing challenge of youth unemployment. Its core mission is to provide pertinent training aligned with labour market demands, thereby elevating the employment skills of young individuals.
This initiative has garnered the support of six OIC member countries during this session, including the Republic of Iraq, Palestine, Burkina-Faso, Uzbekistan, Djibouti, and the Republic of Somalia, raising the total number of signatories to sixteen.
