Drone Strike Decimates 10 Al-Shabaab Militants in Coordinated Somali-US Mission

(21-12-23) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Somali National Army and the United States Air Force on Wednesday successfully conducted a joint airstike operation resulting in the elimination of 10 Al-Shabaab members. The operation took place during the afternoon at the border of the Lower Jubba and Middle Jubba regions within Jubbaland State.

The Ministry of Defence issued a statement saying, “Joint Somali-US Air Force operation successfully targets gathering of Al-Shabaab, eliminating 10 terrorists at the border between regions of Lower and Middle Jubba of Jubbaland State. This strategic and carefully planned mission is part of our campaign against terrorism.”

The operation follows a similar drone strike on Sunday which targetted airstrike was conducted in Jilib and resulted in the death of Khalif Da’ud, also known as Moallim Ayman, a key figure within Al-Shabaab. The SNA Chief clarified that the targeted commander was responsible for mobilising and coordinating military operations, including attacks that extended into Kenya. Before his killing in the air raid, Ayman reportedly had a bounty of 5 million dollars on his head.
