(06-12-23) MOGADISHU (HN) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud jetted back to Mogadishu on Tuesday evening following his participation in the COP28 global climate change summit in the United Arab Emirates. During the summit, President Mohamud engaged in bilateral discussions with various leaders and representatives of international bodies present at the event. The discussions centred on the profound impact of climate change, highlighting Somalia’s position as one of the most critically affected nations.
While in Dubai, the President actively sought support and assistance for emergency response and relief operations targeting the Somali populace affected by catastrophic floods caused by the El Niño phenomenon. He detailed the scope of the devastation and outlined the measures implemented by the Somali government to address this crisis.
