(01-12-23) MOGADISHU (HN) — The Somali Aviation Authority, alongside the Aden Adde Airport Authority, on Thursday, unveiled a set of stringent directives for airlines operating in Somalia to bolster passenger rights and improve airline operations,
This directive, comprising four key points, primarily aims to protect the rights of passengers travelling to and from Aden Adde International Airport, one of Somalia’s busiest air gateways.
Airlines have been instructed that passenger check-ins cannot commence more than 3 hours before the scheduled flight time. This measure is set to streamline the check-in process and prevent unnecessary delays and congestion at the airport.
It is now mandatory for airline companies to specify the official departure time on the tickets issued to passengers. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and ensure that travellers are well-informed about their flight schedules.
The directive strictly states that the check-in counters will not be operational for any airline with no aircraft ready to transport passengers, which also meets all the safety and flight requirements. This rule underscores the commitment of the Somali Aviation Authorities to ensure the highest standards of safety and reliability in air travel.
These measures signify a robust step by the Somali Aviation Authority towards reinforcing passenger rights, operational transparency, and safety in the country’s aviation sector.
