(06-12-23) GAROWE (HN) —Key traditional elders from SSC-Khaatumo on Tuesday with Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni and his deputy, Ahmed Karash, at the Presidential Palace in Garowe. The meeting between the SSC elders and the President is centred on devising solutions to the political disputes related to the forthcoming 2024 Puntland elections.
The elders of SSC-Khaatumo are actively involved in facilitating dialogue between the government and opposition parties, who are at odds regarding the modalities of the Puntland presidential election. The elders have also previously engaged with opposition political coalitions to mediate and resolve the existing political impasse. The SSC-Khaatumo elders are anticipated to issue a statement over their efforts to mediate the Puntland leadership and the opposition camps.
