(26-01-24) BAGHDAD (Halqabsi News) — Mogadishu Mayor, Yusuf Hussein Jimaale Madaale, participated in the 61st session of the Arab Cities Organization’s Executive Council, held in Baghdad. This significant gathering, chaired by Baghdad Mayor Ammar Musa Kadhim, marked the first meeting in Baghdad in 35 years, symbolising a historic reconnection with the Arab world.
The session, according to the Secretariat, saw the presence of officials from 20 Arab cities, reflecting a strong commitment to regional cooperation. The Arab Towns Organization, active since 1967, welcomed Baghdad back into its fold, highlighting the city’s foundational role in the organization.
The Baghdad Municipality emphasised the organization’s readiness to share knowledge and experiences from across the Arab world, particularly from the Arabian Gulf, to enhance Baghdad’s service sector.
Participants noted a significant transformation in Baghdad’s services and infrastructure, pledging to combine efforts at local, Arab, and international levels for the capital’s continued development. The event concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields and a showcase of a fine art exhibition, emphasising Baghdad’s cultural richness.
