(24-01-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — According to the state-operated national news agency SONNA, the Somali National Army (SNA) has successfully repulsed an Al-Shabaab attack on the town of Aad in the southern Mudug region. Prepared for the enemy’s tactics, the SNA, supported by local forces, inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers this morning.
Speaking with the state media, a senior SNA commander said that the SNA is pursuing the militants who fled following the thwarting of the attack. The incident follows weeks of intensified military operations in the southern Mudug region, including Aad, which was recently liberated from the militants’ control.
