(26-01-24) BELEDWEYNE (Halqabsi News) — Somali military forces in Beledweyne, Hiraan region, successfully neutralised a terrorist threat in the Bundo-Weyne neighbourhood, officials said on Friday. The operation, executed by the 5th battalion of the 27th division, was an intelligence from local community members.
The perpetrator, identified as a resident of Beledweyne, was found in possession of various weapons, including hand grenades and pistols, pointing to a sinister plot against the Beledweyne residents.
Colonel Mohamud Hassan Ibrahim Baakay, the commander of the 5th battalion, 27th division, lauded the soldiers’ efforts in the fight against terrorism. He emphasised the end of an era where terrorists could operate within the public’s view. Colonel Baakay also stressed the importance of the community’s role in ensuring safety and security in the Hiraan region. He called for continued cooperation between residents and security forces, a collaboration that is vital for the ongoing peace and security in Beledweyne and its surrounding areas.
