(09-02-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Kenya Airways has restarted its services to Mogadishu with the arrival of its first flight at Aden Abdulle International Airport on Friday, following a suspension lasting over two years. The return marks the first Kenya Airways flight from Mogadishu since late 2018, featuring cargo services as part of efforts to enhance Somali international connectivity.
The Somali Civil Aviation Authority aims to expand access to international flights for its citizens, welcoming the airline’s re-entry. “This marks a significant step in increasing international flights to and from Somalia,” said Ahmed Maoallim Hassan, General Manager of the Authority.
Kenya Airways plans to maintain daily flights from February 14, as part of wider initiatives to improve aviation services in Somalia. The move is seen as a boost to economic and social links between Kenya and Somalia.
