(20 March 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Abdirahman Mohamud, known as ‘Tokyo,’ a government soldier, has been sentenced to death today for the murder of Abdijabar Mohamed Hassan. The incident unfolded on 12 August 2022 at a tea shop located at the Tarabunka junction in the Hodan district. The fatal altercation stemmed from a political dispute, during which Tokyo stabbed Abdijabar in the heart and jaw.
Tokyo, who initially escaped arrest, was captured on 28 January this year. An investigation led the Military Court Prosecutor’s Office to formally initiate the case on 18 February, with approval to proceed.
The Military Court, having completed the legal proceedings, announced its verdict today, sentencing Tokyo to death by firing squad as retribution for Abdijabar’s death. Judge Major Mohamed Abdi Mumin of the First Degree Court of the Armed Forces announced the verdict.
