(20 March 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — In a tragic incident, the Waberi District Sports Chairman was fatally shot by a local police officer, leading to his death from severe gunshot wounds at Digfeer Hospital. The incident occurred after the victim, Mahad Injey Borow, had instructed the officer to leave the VIP section of the district’s sporting centre during a Ramadan football match, a request that reportedly incited the officer’s anger.
Subsequently, the policeman approached the chairman’s residence after the evening’s fast was broken and discharged his weapon. Authorities have confirmed that the assailant is now in custody.
The killing has sparked outrage within the Banadir region’s sports community, prompting officials to temporarily halt all district sports activities.
