The Somali government announced on Saturday that its forces promptly neutralized the threat, averting a larger catastrophe. A vehicle, disguised as a civilian, detonated in a barren area, intending to cause mass casualties but instead, the attack resulted in no civilian harm. However, it led to the destruction of some civilian properties.
Despite the severity of the attack, the quick response of the Somali soldiers ensured minimal casualties, with only three soldiers sustaining minor injuries. The government’s statement highlighted the bravery and effectiveness of the security forces in thwarting the militants’ plans.
General Dayah Abdi Abdulle reported that the military’s counter-attack was successful, eliminating 11 attackers, showcasing the army’s resolve against such insurgencies. This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in Somalia, particularly during Ramadan, when Al-Shabaab has ramped up its attacks across the country.
