(30 April 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Somalia’s Minister for Internal Security, General Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), on Tuesday inaugurated a new facility at the Police Mine Detection Centre. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including the Chief of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Sulub Ahmed Firin, Deputy Chief of Police, General Zakia Hussein Ahmed, and various international agency representatives. During the event, Police Boss Firin praised the dedication of the officers and staff at the centre, describing them as protectors of the community, vigilantly prepared to thwart the threats from terrorists targeting civilians.
Minister Fartaag conveyed his appreciation to the Somali Police Force Command, especially the personnel at the centre, who consistently endanger their own lives to safeguard their community. The expansion of the facility is important for bolstering overall security across the nation, particularly in the capital, Mogadishu. Both the Minister and the Chief extended special thanks to the Japanese government for its significant contribution to the development of the facility, underscoring its importance for both the police force and the Somali people.
